Capes, Capes, Capes!
Posted: Oct 18 2014
Fall 2014 has brought us a plethora of fabulous trends! One of our favorites is the cape or poncho.
The cape is easy to incorporate into your wardrobe, super fun (and comfy), and has the potential to become a staple in your closet! All you need to do is follow these three simple guidelines when styling the cape:
1) Pair the cape accordingly. The silhouette of the cape is (obviously) flowy and needs to be paired with skinny jeans, tailored slacks, or a pencil skirt. Remember: something tight paired with something light (airy).
2) Accessorize, but don't overdo it. The cape is a big enough statement in itself. Thus, you don't really need piles of jewelry, or a dramatic bag. Keep things minimalistic by instead throwing on a felt hat that will compliment your look nicely.
3) Wear the cape; don't let the cape wear you! The cape can swallow you up or make you appear shorter than you actually are, depending on the shoes you choose! Who knew shoe choice was so important?! The key is to choose a strappy heel, or sky-high boots and booties.
So there you have it! Follow these few, simple steps when styling your cape, and you'll command the attention of the room! Check out our fabulous herringbone cape by Tracey Reese. It's the perfect silhouette and color combo to support your style all winter long!
