Spring 2015: Top Ten Trends
Posted: Oct 03 2014
Just as the leaves are changing, the air is getting cooler, you’re indulging weekly in some form of pumpkin latte, and the cashmere sweaters are slowly beginning to reappear, September fashion month throws the hottest Spring/Summer 2015 Ready to Wear fashion shows your way. You sigh, and think “Spring trends, really? Already?” But fashionistas know that preparation is key, and Crocus is here to assist in filling you in on all things Spring ’15!
The Top Ten Trends for Spring ‘15 to keep on your radar are as follows:
- Clutches, especially in graphic prints
- Flats, Slides, and Sneakers
- Gladiator Sandals
- Floral Heels
- One-Shoulder Cuts
Keep these top ten on the top of your shopping list, and you’ll be ahead of the game. But at Crocus, we’re focusing intently on these five trends:
The biggie that caught our eye? Clutches! We saw them with powerful graphics at Chanel, we saw them spiky and luxurious at Proenza Schouler, and we saw them bold at Valentino. So consider leaving the oversized bags at home, and picking up a lady-like clutch instead.
Flats, slides, and sneakers galore! Birkenstocks, as you know by now, have made their comeback, but sneakers are up-in-arms about it, and they’re coming back with a vengeance. You’ll swoon over the quilted sneakers at Tabitha Simmons. Comfort is king, come spring!
What is it about fringe that brings out the festive party-girl in you? When spring arrives, you can eagerly shed those layers, throw on some fringe, and swing and sway all night long! We absolutely went weak in the knees over the Marco de Vincenzo little pink fringe dress. (Is LPFD the new LBD, perhaps?)
Ooo la la! Sheer is so romantic. It’s sexy, yet subtle, and although we love transparency for year-round elegance, designers commanded the runways this past month with a sheer love for.. sheer! Alberta Ferretti stunned us with a demure collection of champagne and rose-colored sheers. Three cheers for sheer!
Culottes. They’re veterans to the fashion scene and made a huge splash this past spring. However, they are coming back for round two! Next year consider pairing your culottes with extremely feminine numbers, polos (another Spring ‘15 trend), or tailored tops a la Thakoon.
So even though most of us are just now breaking out the tweed, wovens, and cords, don’t let Spring ‘15 shopping sneak up on you! Prepare your wishlists, ladies! Happy shopping!
